Termín HIDE skrývá dvojici Heather a Seth z Chicaga. Heather Gabel je zodpovědná za znepokojující vokály a Seth Sher za všechno ostatní, co dotváří ultimátní elektronický chaos, ať už je to industriálně laděná texturovaná elektronika nebo často používané komponenty field recordings. Provokativní a konfrontační ‘wall of sound‘ se často vydává vstříc tíživým sociálně-politickým tématům i filozofickým úvahám. Záměrně, s minimálními sonickými prostředky, opouští tradiční hudební koncepty a struktury, aby primárně pracoval s hypnotickou mantrou a ohlušujícím elektronickým dusnem, které syrově a neurvale nutí spíš k zamyšlení, než k EBM groove extázi. Program doplňuje podobně přímočaré duo z Barcelony SDH (dark wave, EBM, acid house, melodic techno, electronic psychedelia) a o poznání smířlivější švýcarský projekt VEIL OF LIGHT (coldwave, synth pop).

HIDE (USA)

Chicago-based duo, creating dark and heavy sample-based compositions using a combination of self-sourced field recordings and various pop culture and media references. Their music is textured, minimal, and powerful. Spacious and jarring a distant knocking grown into the pulse of a hypnotic dirge, drones emerge from shards of decomposed sound, bending, seething their way through your body. Raw vocal delivery of mantra-like prose issued forth yields a raging, plaintive wail that lulls, mocks, questions, proclaims and decries. HIDE’s third album, Interior Terror (Dais Records, 2021) further abandons traditional concepts of song structure in favor of splintered rhythms and fevered, immediate release. Expanding on previous themes of autonomy and empowerment. Turning to the dread inside, reflecting on the world around us, HIDE gives voice to the power of destruction as a catalyst for hope, and to the collective experiences of those who’ve come before us as a wellspring of our own power.

VEIL OF LIGHT (CHE)

Zurich-based outfit Veil Of Light are best known for their FM new wave, synthpop tones and suburban cool synths. Founded in 2012 they have a huge history ranging from their early mysterious shoegaze-tinged post-punk sound to harder and pounding electro/body music culminating in their latest offering Sundancing. Best described as pure synthpop bliss and probably their best and most elaborated outing yet.

SDH (ESP)

Semiotics Department of Heteronyms is the main project of two key figures of the synth-wave/industrial scene of Barcelona. Andrea P. Latorre and Sergi Algiz, founders of the Cønjuntø Vacíø label and also in the experimental post-punk band Wind Atlas, unveil a new act more oriented towards pop music. SDH is change, alteration, distortion, metamorphosis. Their synth-pop songs, sprinkled with EBM and techno, are mysterious, obtuse and suggestive.
