23.-24.5. the ever popular Open House Praha 2026 enables free entry to a hundred of buildings in the city.

Music

14.5. The old Viennese word “Remassuri” means confusion or a whirl. This performance invites you on a journey through Viennese music from the past to the present. It features outstanding musicians, puppeteers, shadow play, lighting effects, and pantomime. REMASSURI is an initiative of André Heller, Ursula Strauss, and Ernst Molden.

Alongside the Blue Danube Waltz and the Radetzky March, you will also discover the charming Wienerlied (“Viennese song”), heard in Viennese taverns in the 19th and 20th centuries. The show is performed in German and in the Viennese dialect. Admission is free with mandatory registration via GoOut.

 

16.5.: On the occasion of the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, there will be a joint viewing of the final of the singing and music competition at the Sibeeria Tap Room (Soukenická 4, Prague 1). No registration is required. For those who want to get into the mood in advance, you are warmly invited to a Euro(vision) Pub Quiz starting at 7 pm. You can expect a varied mix of questions related to the Song Contest, music, and the participating countries. The quiz will be held in English. Teams for the quiz are asked to register by stating the number of participants (2–6 per team) at prag-kf(at)bmeia.gv.at. There is no entry fee.

Nature

  • Botanical Garden of Charles University (Na Slupi) is 250 years old and really impressive. The outdoor exhibitions are open year-round and free of charge.

  • Visit the Valdštejnská zahrada (Wallenstein Garden): trees, fountains, sculptures and magnificient buildings in the heart of Prague.

  • Till July 11: Artist Beate Winkler presents her exhibition project Color in the Head: Art in Dialogue at the gallery of the Austrian Cultural Forum Prague. According to the artist, the art helps to create positive visions of the future by encouraging new ways of thinking, shifts in perspective, and inspiration; she rolls and unrolls her works made of handmade paper, attaching them to the wall in various ways and forms.

Šárka Váchová’s puppets

  • The Czech Television has a small gallery showing an exhibition of film puppets and illustrations by Šárka Váchová, titled The Magic of Puppets and the Poetry of the Image – Kouzlo loutek a poezie obrazu. Worth a visit!
  • Endless Curiosity, an exhibition drawn from the Sublime Hyacinth Collection, presents a selection of major Czech painters of the past three decades at Galerie Magnus Art. The show runs till 2 May, with free admission.

  • Until May 10 at Galerie Rudolfinum: Sahej Rahal and his exhibition called Beyond the City of Time.

  • Food Not Bombs Prague distribute food every Sunday from 16:00 at Winston Churchill Square, offering meals to anyone, no questions asked.
    You can also get a free hot meal on Friday from 17:30 and Saturday from 16:00 in Holešovice, near Praha-Holešovice railway station. (facebook).
